Georgia Network of Professional Pet Sitters (GNPP) Since 1996

Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

Q – What is the Georgia Network of Professional Pet Sitters, and how did it start?

A – In 1996, anticipating metro Atlanta’s Olympic Games and their local impact, several competing pet sitting companies decided they would HELP each other. They started meeting regularly to discuss potential problems and back up plans, as well as other common concerns professional pet sitters face each day. Today the network has over 50 different pet sitting companies as members, promoting professionalism of all pet sitters, giving referrals for out of area, and fostering responsible pet ownership.

Q – Who can join GNPP?

A – Any GA professional pet sitter who is insured or is insured and bonded and agrees to operate within the Standards of Excellence may join upon: 1) paying the annual dues of $75 per year, 2) provides written proof of insurance, and 3) joing the free GNPP Yahoo! group. Part time pet sitters that are insured and meet the above requirements are welcome to participate as well!

GNPP reserves the right to deny membership if prospect has been convicted of Cruelty or Negligence to animals or of theft, or does not operate within the Standards of Excellence. All members must reapply for membership in January of each year by paying their annual dues and providing a copy of proof of their current liability insurance. Please contact Eindy.

Q – When and Where does GNPP meet?

A – GNPP meets the 3rd Thursday of every month. We have breakfast and networking from 9:30-10am and the general meeting is from 10-11am (sharp), with no meetings in July or December. The meetings are held at La Madeleine Restaurant, 165 Perimeter West, Atlanta (near Perimeter Mall) 770-392-0516. Topics and agendas for the meetings are sent via an E-VITE invitation to all members, about 1 week prior.

Q – Why should I join, I can hardly EVER get away during my busy day?

A – Many pet sitters attend only 1-2 meetings each year but they catch up via e-mail , on our web site www.georgiapetsitters.com, or on the GNPP yahoo group. A wealth of information, meeting minutes, problem solving, great support, forms and referrals are shared on the free yahoo group as well as event planning details and updates. After you have paid your dues, join the free, members only yahoo group at http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/GNPP/ by selecting Join this Group.

A little schedule rearranging can mean a lot of goodwill, new friends , referrals and learning more about the pet sitting profession. Our members enjoy meeting sitters they’ve only heard of, resulting in beneficial referrals and a professional support system. Joining GNPP also lists your company on the zip code locator on the web site, sending clients directly to you. Other company promotions and discounts are listed on the member’s only page.

Q – What does GNPP do, besides meeting every month?

A – GNPP maintains a zip code locator website, volunteers and sets up tables promoting our organization at pet related events, promotes professional pet sitting in conjunction with National organizations, and sometimes does group advertising. GNPP also helps make new pet sitters aware of resources available and hosts the Southeastern Regional Pet Sitting Conference.

Remember GNPP is only as successful as YOU MAKE IT!
